Filmed in studio at LSI Studios, Denver, CO
If you can’t bring the man to the jungle, bring the jungle to the man. Or, at least that’s what Mrs K’s Jeanne Kopeck said when asked about creating an open for Discovery’s Going Tribal. The show drops a man into remote tribes around the world and challenges him to live with and as a native for a month in each. To create the type of imagery she imagined, crews had to raid every plant store and nursery in a thirty-mile area, borrowing, renting and buying every tropical tree, plant and palm available. The foliage was packed together in a studio, a rig built above to allow the camera to move easily inside the “jungle,” and local actors were turned into natives to initiate our urbanite as he slowly loses his city trappings…till only some face paint and a few tattoos remained.
